Tree Top

A wind storm ripped through Southern Manitoba damaging lots of trees in the city including one in front of our house. We were surprised to arrive at out cottage which is two hours north of the city to find that we had a bit of damage at the cottage too!

We found this unexplained little tree lying on the path up from our dock and it took us a couple of minutes to realize where it came from.

The tree is more than first a seed, then a stem, then a living trunk, and then dead timber.  The tree is a slow, enduring force straining to win the sky.
~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Wisdom of the Sands, translated from French by Stuart Gilbert
