Comfy View to the Lake

Fall Cottage 2023

I love the changing seasons at the lake and I like doing crafts and changing the decor in the cottage along with the season. I hope you like seeing our place in Fall.

Marigolds and the Pear

We set up these lovely planters near the cottage doors.  They are filled with mosquito repelling plants, and asolar light in the planter is nice to have by the door too. The marigolds were going to seed so we gathered those seeds to plant for next year. The pear tree was planted 40 years ago and it never bore fruit until this year. Not sure what was different this year but one got one. Not a perfect specimen perhaps but it feels like one little miracle, 🍐

The New Bird Feeder

Our youngest grandchild helped build and paint this little bird feeder.  The squirrel was grateful. 🐿

Plums at Last! 2023

We planted 2 plum trees 40 years ago and never saw more than a handful of fruit each year despite clouds of white blossomed each Spring. The trees multiplied from their roots and looked healthy but just didn’t produce the plums for us. A couple years ago we learned that plums have to be pollinated by a different species of plum so we planted a new type of plum tree. The following year the new tree produced a dozen juicy yellow coloured plums but no change with the original red plums. We sort of gave up and stopped checking. The next August we were were shocked to notice trees full of plums!
